今日の教会の最大の弱さは、“神は、ご自身の力を聖書に注ぎ込んでおられる”ということを、ほとんど誰も信じていないということである。

誰もが、その力を、活動プログラムや、それをうまくやるテクニックや、ありとあらゆることに求めている。――ただ一つ、神がそれを込められたもの、“神の言葉”を脇に置いて。

クリスチャン生活には、3つの方向から危険が近づいてくる。

①　私たちが旅路をゆくこの世そのもの。

②　この世の“神”（訳者注:=偶像）

③　私たちの制御されない“肉”（訳者注:　この世的欲望）

だから私たちには、“岩、砦、解放者、守護者、逃げ込む高きやぐら”なるお方（訳者注: まことの神、イエス・キリスト）が必要なのだ。
