神は“勇気”をお与えになった。それをもって一人の人と正面から向き合えることも、誰もが恐れなく自らの責務を果たすこともいいことだ｡サタンは“向こう見ずな心”を吹き込み、それを“勇気”と呼び､一瞬にして消える名声のために、人を敵の大砲の銃口に突き進ませるのだ。

God bestows courage; and it is a good thing to be able to look ones fellow in the face, fearless of all men in doing our duty. Satan inspires fool- hardiness, styles it courage, and bids the man rush to the cannons mouth for “bubble reputation.”
