この世の中で、最も高貴なる召しは、“母”への召しである。まことの母性（母であること）は、全ての業の中で最も美しいものであり、全ての“職業”の中で、最も大いなるものである。

 

 

 

傑作の絵画を描ける女性、あまたの人々に影響与える本を書くことのできる女性は、人々の喝采と崇敬を受けるに値する。

 

 

 

けれども、描かれた絵画が色あせ、本や彫像が破壊されたのちも､その不滅の魂が長き年月にわたって影響を与え続ける、健康で優れた息子、娘たちの家族を立派に養い育てた母親は、およそ人が与えることのできる最高の栄誉を受けるに値するのだ。

The noblest calling in the world is that of a mother. True motherhood is the most beautiful of all arts, the greatest of all professions.

 

She who can paint a masterpiece or who can write a book that will influence millions deserves the plaudits and admiration of mankind;

 

But she who rears successfully a family of healthy,beautiful sons and daughters whose immortal souls will be exerting an influence throughout the ages　long after paintings shall have faded, and books and statues shall have been destroyed, deserves the highest honor that man can give.
