ぶどうの枝は、何も思い煩うことなく、労することもなく、こちらで陽光を得ようと求め、あちらで雨を渇き求める。いや、実のところは、ぶどうの枝は、その木とのつながりと交わりのうちに、安らいでいるのだ。そして私たちは、ふさわしい時に、ふさわしい方法で、ふさわしい実を豊かに結んでいる枝を見いだすのである。そのように、私たちも、主イエスのもとにとどまろうではないか。
