おばあちゃんの家は、魔法みたいだった…。
おうちに着くまでの車道は
長く、土まみれで
高い木々の枝や葉のトンネルの中。
そこを通り抜けると彼女のポーチ。
窓のところで、出来立てパイがいい香りを放ち
そよ風に乗せて、「おいでおいで」と
おいしい匂いを運んできた。
窓のところからポーチを横切り、
二人乗りのブランコと
彼女がお茶を飲む腰かけを通り過ぎる。
揺り椅子のすぐそばで車を降り、
歩道に沿って歩くと
彼女の家のドアにピタリと行き当たったものだ。

Grandma's house
was something magical...
the driveway long and
dirt and lined with
tall trees whose
branches and leaves
created a tunnel
you traveled through
to her porch,
and in the window
sat a pie its aroma
calling us beckoning
its scent drifting
on the breeze
floating from her window
across the porch
past the swing made for two
and chairs where she drank tea,
right on by her rocker
down the steps
along the walkway
to our car magically
leading us to her door.
