キリストの兵士たちよ、もしあなたが兵役登録をしているなら、あなたは激しい戦いをしなければならない。あなたにダウン（綿毛）のベッドはないし、戦車を駆って天に上ることもない。デコボコ道を走り、山々に登り、浅瀬を渡り、龍どもと闘い、巨人たちを剣で打ち倒し、困難を乗り越え、大いなる試みも身に負わねばならない。それは天への滑らかな道ではないのだ。本当ですぞ。

（Ⅱテモテ2:3,4）「キリスト・イエスのりっぱな兵士として、私と苦しみをともにしてください。兵役についていながら、日常生活のことに掛かり合っている者はだれもありません。それは徴募した者を喜ばせるためです。」

Soldier of Christ, if thou enlisteth, thou wilt have to do hard battle. There is no bed of down for thee, there is no riding to heaven in a chariot; the rough way must be trodden, mountains must be climbed, rivers must be forded, dragons must be fought, giants must be slain, difficulties must be overcome, and great trials must be borne. It is not a smooth road to heaven, believe me.
